Her daughter Ruthie (Cordelia Richards), who is long overdue in her pregnancy, toils right beside her mother and knows only this hard-working life. That’s how it is for everyone at North Shore Fish. Sal Matilla (Tony Danza) has been the foreman for years at this frozen fish factory and has known his employees even longer. He is having an affair behind his wife’s back with Florence (Mercedes Ruehl), his highschool sweetheart and the ‘batter’ person on the assembly line. Porker (Peter Riegert), Sal’s right hand man, has been madly in love with Florence since third grade. Rounding out the crew are the gregarious Josie (Rusty Schwimmer), the fanciful Maureen (Elizabeth Brown), and the sexy Marlena (Devon Pierce), the “new kid” on the line.
