The accused claims he had found the watch alongside the road near the crime scene when he took a motorcycle he had been repairing for a test drive. The suspect has a clean reputation and McBride thinks it unlikely that he would stab a man 16 times to steal a watch. With the evidence against his client mounting, McBride realizes that to win his case he may have to expose the secrets not only of his idol but of several people who were close to him.
